Maidenform, the American bra company from New Jersey has a nice collection of full figure minimizers. Called Lilyette®, the line is made from nylon and spandex and was created to provide a comfortable, supportive fit. Pretty in lace, embroidery, soft cup, and strapless styles, the bras feature a patent pending seam-free back. When the bra is worn under clothing, there are no rolls and no seams. The look is completely smooth.

In addition to the seam-free back patent, the Lilyette line also includes a T-back bra named “Fit For You” which is somewhat of a revolutionary bra. The company describes it in this way. “The floating wire-channel is made with a patented wire channel system that prevents the wire from flipping. The underwire cup design prevents binding while the center front closure promotes a secure fit. The smooth patent-pending wing smoothes back roll.” Indeed, this bra seems like it can perform miracles underneath one’s clothing.

To assist customers in choosing the right bra, the website offers a page of “what to wear suggestions”. Depending on the clothing type, there are different bras that look best with the outfit.

For centuries women have been binding up their bodies in an effort to be smaller. Corsets, girdles, bustiers and control top pantyhose have all been used to smooth out fat, remove a dress size and keep the body looking tight and firm. This article is a general information piece on the different types of slimming garments (aka shapewear) available on the market today.

Slimming Bodysuits help to emphasize a small waist, firm up the buttocks, flatten flabby areas and in some instances allows the wearer to drop a whole dress size. They come in teddy styles, short legs and long leg versions depending on whether they are worn under pants, a long dress or short dress. Slimming bodysuits also come in tube styles, which can be worn with strapless dresses.

Waist Cinchers help to define the body at the waist giving the appearance of an hourglass. They smooth out bulges and provide better posture. Some designs are made with flexible boning to keep the cincher from rolling up or down. Apparently waist cinchers are nothing new in Brazil as the women have used them for years. The only difference is they call them “fajas” in their language, a word that has actually crept into English speaking lingerie boutiques.

Control Briefs come in many styles including the high waist that reaches to the bust, longer legs that come half way to the knee, and the higher cut that boosts and pushes up the buttocks. Control briefs are made to reduce bulges and rolls of fat on the upper legs and hips.

Control Thongs lets the wearer avoid panty lines while at the same time flattens the stomach making the wearer slimmer.

Control Top Tights are pantyhose with tops that are more like the actual slimming panties attached to pretty stocking legs which are comfortable and look great.

So whatever specific bulge that requires flattening or removing, there is a product available for any part of the body.

All I have seen for the last week is the term Yummie Tummie. Everywhere I see an advertisement or commentary on this new product. And yes, the curiosity got the better of me because I had to find out whether this was food, clothing or cream.

So I typed Yummie Tummie into a search engine and found an official website that says, “Yummie Tummie™ is the greatest new leader in shape wear apparel and accessories. Created by a woman for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Your Yummie Tummie™ will visibly slim, shape and smooth you”. So there you have it, another body shaper. But wait…

The Yummie Tummie™ is not an ordinary body shaper. It really is different because the garment is not something you must wear under your clothes but rather it can be worn as your upper clothing. The cotton bust and hips panels make the YT appear as though you are wearing a normal top but the secret is in the mid section which firms and shapes the stomach and middle area hiding lumps and bumps. According to the company, the tops eliminate five pounds from one’s appearance and it can be worn as a foundation garment or layering piece.

The tops come in t-shirt, v-neck, tank top and spaghetti strap styling, long sleeved or short, and a variety of colours. Lastly, they are long enough to wear over the hips which helps in making your outfit streamlined.

More on the official Yummie Tummie site!
