As I continued my search for known lingerie labels that manufacture skongs, I was more confused because I found that some companies were indeed selling a skirt and thong combo as a skong. So it would appear that my initial description was accurate while the panty version is another take on the word. So that you can see both versions, I found two companies with a small selection of each.

Frederick’s of Hollywood offers the skirt version of the skong. Satin, rhinestone and vintage inspired, each piece is a short skirt with attached thong. And Lingerie Mart shows us some lace boy short thong combinations.

The suspender belt is comprised of gorgeous liqueur stretch silk satin as well as beautiful Austrian lace, and it is designed to accentuate the classic, feminine hourglass shape. The bra features silk in cafe au lait, while the thong has a gorgeous color scheme made of lace, liqueur, and black.

Slimming Bodysuits help to emphasize a small waist, firm up the buttocks, flatten flabby areas and in some instances allows the wearer to drop a whole dress size. They come in teddy styles, short legs and long leg versions depending on whether they are worn under pants, a long dress or short dress. Slimming bodysuits also come in tube styles, which can be worn with strapless dresses.

Waist Cinchers help to define the body at the waist giving the appearance of an hourglass. They smooth out bulges and provide better posture. Some designs are made with flexible boning to keep the cincher from rolling up or down. Apparently waist cinchers are nothing new in Brazil as the women have used them for years. The only difference is they call them “fajas” in their language, a word that has actually crept into English speaking lingerie boutiques.

Control Briefs come in many styles including the high waist that reaches to the bust, longer legs that come half way to the knee, and the higher cut that boosts and pushes up the buttocks. Control briefs are made to reduce bulges and rolls of fat on the upper legs and hips.

Control Thongs lets the wearer avoid panty lines while at the same time flattens the stomach making the wearer slimmer.

Control Top Tights are pantyhose with tops that are more like the actual slimming panties attached to pretty stocking legs which are comfortable and look great.

So whatever specific bulge that requires flattening or removing, there is a product available for any part of the body.

Simple Pleasures, a gorgeous collection of dreamy prints with lovely laces, ribbons and bows, the name is synonymous with spring and enjoying simple things in life like listening to the light wind in the trees, the brook murmuring and the wind chimes’ melodies. I adore the new chemise the model is wearing with a pair of corduroy pants. I prefer to wear it with a summer skirt but either way, the demure colouring of the print fabric, the sumptuous lace highlighting the top of the breasts and the empire styling band combine to interpret this piece as outerwear in my mind. There is no reason to hide its beauty underneath other pieces of clothing.

Founded in 1993 in Romania, Jolidon lingerie focuses on lace and cotton creations, elegant embroidery collections, fanciful prints and exquisite silks. Each piece exudes luxury while at the same time providing an air of cavalierness as though nothing else in the world mattered but how one’s lingerie looked. In addition to their carefree lingerie and women’s swimwear, the company also makes underwear and swimwear for men and children. The 2008 swimsuit collection for little girls is out and it is adorable in bright colours and sweet lady bug and frog motifs.

Something that I find interesting about Jolidon is the fact that although the lingerie looks beautiful and is considered a luxury line, it is rather fairly priced. The Jolidon brand is sold in stores throughout Romania, France, Hungary and Italy and an internet search will provide many online shops promoting various pieces of the line.

A few years ago, villagers found that they could make more money by selling handmade Koniakow lace thongs and g-strings. The lace, a symbol of their heritage and used primarily in Catholic religious garments, was suddenly turned into a booming lingerie business. Tourists envied the fancy lace thongs and the ladies of the village found that thongs were much faster to make than tablecloths and doilies. Plus, the tourists were not interested in the heirloom cloths. But they loved the thongs. The elders of the community and many church officials, however, were not happy as they felt the ancient profession of lace making was being degraded.

And through the months of January to March 2008, the older community, again, must deal with the blatant viewing of lingerie. The display has gone as far back as the early 1900s with tight corsets and knee length knickers and moves through time periods right up to the tiniest thongs of today.

For the most part, though, the visitors are curious to see the display for different reasons. The young want to know what it was like before their time, the older people want to know what is popular today and then others yet just want to remember what they used to wear.
