Okay ladies, I felt like writing something fun and silly about lingerie. I see these crazy tidbits all the time and since I normally review luxury collections or announce new bridal lines, the oddball stuff just gets thrown away since it does not fit into my high-end writings.

But I figured, why not pool all the snippets together and make a quick useless post. So the only purpose of this article is to make you laugh and I hope you do find it amusing, as I had quite a giggle myself pulling it together.

Now if you do not want the expense and work of maintaining your fine lingerie, go for the easy dust off model – The Lingerie Lamp. Aptly named Tramp Lamps, these sexy numbers will light up any boudoir. As silly as the idea sounds, the artist takes great pride in her craftsmanship. Vintage inspired, each lingerie lamp is handcrafted and different than the others. The Christa, cream bustier is actually very pretty with red bow and bead trimmings while the gorgeous Sylvie bustier is perfect with white fur trim and lovely pink bodice. If we could all look that good forever!

And here’s one that recently broke the airwaves. Paper lingerie for the dead. It seems that for the Qingming Festival, people buy large amounts of paper lingerie to offer their deceased female family members to keep them happy in the afterlife. The lingerie comes in pretty patterned sets or even monogrammed pieces. A chic pair of floral panties trimmed with gold-coloured studs sells quite well.

Then, there’s the lingerie clad PC mouse. No doubt made exclusively for men. What were they thinking?

Have you seen the edible lingerie? Little coloured candies on a string that make up cute bras and panties. I guess they could serve a purpose. Hmmm, fun time in candy land, anyone?

And the last item was the “Call Me Panty”, a kangaroo style pink panty with little pouch to carry a cellphone. Turn the phone on vibrate and I think you get the picture!

Well that is enough of my fact is stranger than fiction. Time to get back to some serious lingerie reviewing.

All I have seen for the last week is the term Yummie Tummie. Everywhere I see an advertisement or commentary on this new product. And yes, the curiosity got the better of me because I had to find out whether this was food, clothing or cream.

So I typed Yummie Tummie into a search engine and found an official website that says, “Yummie Tummie™ is the greatest new leader in shape wear apparel and accessories. Created by a woman for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Your Yummie Tummie™ will visibly slim, shape and smooth you”. So there you have it, another body shaper. But wait…

The Yummie Tummie™ is not an ordinary body shaper. It really is different because the garment is not something you must wear under your clothes but rather it can be worn as your upper clothing. The cotton bust and hips panels make the YT appear as though you are wearing a normal top but the secret is in the mid section which firms and shapes the stomach and middle area hiding lumps and bumps. According to the company, the tops eliminate five pounds from one’s appearance and it can be worn as a foundation garment or layering piece.

The tops come in t-shirt, v-neck, tank top and spaghetti strap styling, long sleeved or short, and a variety of colours. Lastly, they are long enough to wear over the hips which helps in making your outfit streamlined.

Today is the first nice day of spring. Daffodils and tulips are blooming in the gardens and this is the time of year that I am inspired to buy more lingerie. I love lingerie anytime of the year but spring flowers and birds chirping make me wish for new bright and airy undergarments. Having a quick look around this morning, I particularly love the Jolidon Spring-Summer 08 Collection.

Simple Pleasures, a gorgeous collection of dreamy prints with lovely laces, ribbons and bows, the name is synonymous with spring and enjoying simple things in life like listening to the light wind in the trees, the brook murmuring and the wind chimes’ melodies. I adore the new chemise the model is wearing with a pair of corduroy pants. I prefer to wear it with a summer skirt but either way, the demure colouring of the print fabric, the sumptuous lace highlighting the top of the breasts and the empire styling band combine to interpret this piece as outerwear in my mind. There is no reason to hide its beauty underneath other pieces of clothing.

Founded in 1993 in Romania, Jolidon lingerie focuses on lace and cotton creations, elegant embroidery collections, fanciful prints and exquisite silks. Each piece exudes luxury while at the same time providing an air of cavalierness as though nothing else in the world mattered but how one’s lingerie looked. In addition to their carefree lingerie and women’s swimwear, the company also makes underwear and swimwear for men and children. The 2008 swimsuit collection for little girls is out and it is adorable in bright colours and sweet lady bug and frog motifs.

Something that I find interesting about Jolidon is the fact that although the lingerie looks beautiful and is considered a luxury line, it is rather fairly priced. The Jolidon brand is sold in stores throughout Romania, France, Hungary and Italy and an internet search will provide many online shops promoting various pieces of the line.

The Lingerie Bowl, of course. After a bumpy start, it appears as though The Lingerie Bowl will now move forward with some serious football under the Lingerie Football League. Recent tryouts for The Tampa Bay Breeze, bring the league up to ten teams including Dallas Desire, Phoenix Scorch, San Diego Seduction, Las Vegas Sin, New York Euphoria, Miami Caliente, Chicago Bliss, Atlantic Steam and Los Angeles Temptation.

Clad in lingerie and football gear, twelve to a team, the individual spots are highly sought after by doctors, lawyers, models, waitresses and all types of women looking for something to do. The exercise regime is rigorous and aside from the lingerie itself, which looks more like cheerleading uniforms, the women are not professional lingerie models in a photo shoot. They expect to play football, playing a ten game season, and will also play during halftime of the February 2009 Super Bowl.

This may be Fantasy Football to men who love to see lingerie clad women pretending to play sports, but the truth is to the thousands of women vying for limited spots, this is a serious proposition.

Fun and fantasy are popular reasons to wear lingerie. Aside from the practical value of lingerie, many women are wearing lingerie to spice up their lives in other areas. In fact, Dreamgirl’s 2008-2009 Red Diamond Collection is available to help women carry out their fantasies.

Hmmm…. splinters in the derriere. What kind of lingerie label is this? Actually Sophia Young, the French designer, in response to her daughter’s allergic reactions, has created a line of lingerie made of wood. The collection was recently released by “By Nature”, a company known for promoting products for organic and ethical living.

Sophia describes the collection as being “as soft as silk with the feel of cashmere and the coolness of linen”. It is very comfortable, easily maintained and keeps its shape well. The material itself is called Lenpur and is made from white pine tree clippings processed with enzymes. Apparently, the fibre is able to regulate temperature keeping one cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The raw materials are renewable and sustainable resources while the finished fabric itself is biodegradable.

In addition to the eco-friendly material, By Nature believes in responsible manufacturing. This eco-friendly lingerie label is produced in Angers, France, a small community that cherishes the planet and provides a long-time and well-known craft.

Ethical underwear, indeed!

Lingerie generally goes hand in hand with celebrities. Whether one endorses the product by wearing it and creating a fashion fad or whether one creates the line or models the line, stars are important to the lingerie industry. So here are a couple quick notes on celebrities, stars and models.

• Nell McAndrew, model and mom, has been named the face and body of Adore Moi, replacing Kimberley Stewart. Sold exclusively at Debenhams Department Store in the UK, the collection is pretty satin and lace, comfortable to wear and inexpensively priced.
• Eva Mendes, actress and already the spokeswoman for a Calvin Klein fragrance, will be wearing Calvin Klein’s new line of lingerie called Seductive Comfort when the advertising campaign begins in August 2008.
• Many of Sydney, Australia’s celebrities and stars were present for the recent launch of Berlei’s newest range Undetectable. A unique blend of invisible lace, super fine foam cups and seam-free and stitch-free technology will make this a very popular line.

Whether modeling the lingerie or previewing a new collection, stars are always on hand when a new line reveals itself to the public.

Victoria’s Secret introduces the bra that’s soft like a dream: New! Dream Angels Demi. Made with a special memory lining, the bra reacts to your body heat and conforms to your every curve.
