Bloomers Back In Fashion?

October 30th, 2009 by Heather

bloomers2-500x689Now, I know that I said in the last blog that I am so, so, so glad that bloomers are not in fashion anymore but really … I have to say that they are making a come back.  While you might be familiar with the bloomers that are loose and almost like shorts that you wear under your dresses, these bloomers are absolutely nothing like that.

These bloomers are actually sexy, stylish and are tight – which makes your legs look and feel incredible.  Most of the lingerie in the past is slowly but surely making a come back and honestly, I am cool with that.  It is really hard to believe that back in the day, lingerie did not exist and when it did, it was just underwear.

Now though, bloomers are being reinvented and are looking awesome!  Designers are making these shorts out of lace, sheer fabrics and really anything that is sexy and hot.

Undercover – The Evolution Of Underwear!

October 29th, 2009 by Heather

wonderbraLingerie has been a huge, huge, huge part of our culture.  There is always something different, always something fresh and always something unique about all of the brand new collections coming out but did you know it wasn’t always like that?  Lingerie has been around forever but before there was ever the bra or ever the panties, lingerie was not sexy at all.

For example, bloomers were something that was very in way back when and they were plain … a little tight and did not show off anything that a woman has to offer.  Well ladies, it has been quite a while since bloomers were in style and I have to say that I am so, so, so glad about that.

Now – it is all about how sexy the lingerie is and how beautiful it makes a woman feel.

The Modern Courtesan’s Take on Sex in the City

October 22nd, 2009 by Heather

The Modern CourtesanI love, love, love The Modern Courtesan. I absolutely, positively adore this line. The pieces are effervescent and fresh, so much so they redefine the whole idea of intimate apparel. Female sexuality is kept iconic, yet comes complete with a new, delicious twist thanks to innovative concepts and one of a kind ideas. Seduction is par for the course — as you would well expect, given the name of the brand, am I right?

The Modern Courtesan Sex in the City Class Action Bra embodies the design aesthetic to a tee.

This is a balconette bra and it is specifically designed to give the wearer the perfect lift. It has a delicate, lovely, feminine silk ruffle, making the bra sexy and alluring to the nth power.

Verde Veronica Takes It to the Blue, Blue Skies

October 20th, 2009 by Heather

Verde VeronicaThere is a reason Verde Veronica is seen as one of the foremost designers of luxurious Italian lingerie. The brand is highly established and extremely reputable, known for having a classy flair and an enviable eye for detail. Luxury mixes with elegance mixes with unique style.

The Verde Veronica Sky Blue Flower Soft Bra makes it easy to see all of those factors all at once.

Fashion meets function in this gorgeous, flirty, feminine bra. It is, as both the name and the picture suggest, a sky blue bra, beautifully soft. It features a lovely, delicate floral design, giving it a wonderful kind of elegance.

The triangle bra is both sophisticated and elegant. The cups are wonderfully soft, not to mention supportive. It is complemented (and complimented) with a satin trim in matching sky blue.

Vivacious, Vibrant Lingerie from Verdissima

October 18th, 2009 by Heather

verdissimaVerdissima is the shi–well, never mind, we are not really supposed to use blue language on here, but I think most of you will catch my drift.

This is a luxe Italian brand, and the lingerie therein is fun, flirtatious, fresh, and very much desirable.

Not to mention feminine, and if you don’t believe me, just take a look at the Verdissima Ballerina Triangle Bra. Because I wanted desperately to be a ballerina for the first eight years of my life, you can understand why this piece caught my eye.

The triangle bra is definitely flirty and feminine, what with its sweet frilly detailing, its thin spaghetti straps, and the thin fastening in back.

Fleur T Takes It to the Boudoir

October 16th, 2009 by Heather

FT_tie-bra_l2What sets Fleur of England apart from other lingerie houses? Its innovation, for one thing; its seasonal designs, for another, not to mention the high quality materials being used as well as the exquisite attention to fit, detail, and style.

You can see all of that in something like the After Hours Boudoir Bra and Shorty Set, which feature beautiful, stunning pieces of craftsmanship. The bra fastens in the front and features sensual black silk along with a lovely black lace, as well as a bow which fastens both at the front and over the bra’s shoulder straps. The shorty bottoms have the same sumptuous materials.

Together, the pieces are both sexy and comfortable in a way that is both subtle and stunning.

It Doesn’t Get Cuter than Camis by Bulb

October 14th, 2009 by Heather

BULBCHIFFONSET_lBulb lingerie is very well known for being evocative of romance, luxury, lust, and most importantly, love. It is also well known for evoking a very decadent and sensual boudoir feeling, as we have very likely pointed out before.

This due to Julie Lantry’s design aesthetic, as well as her innate understanding of what women want and how they evolve.

Her understanding of this is represented beautifully in the Little Flowers Cami and Shorts Set. This combination is made of gorgeous, sensual silk chiffon. The camisole is the epitome of floaty romanticism, as are the shorts, which are loose enough to be comfortable but still the ultimate in sexy lounge apparel.

Both pieces feature a motif of lovely, tiny flowers in black and white, the monochrome scheme beautifully offset and perfectly complemented by ribbon detailing in a pale yellow.

Be a Goddess in this Athena Combo by Beau Bra

October 12th, 2009 by Heather

BB_Athena_lThe designer behind the Beau Bra brand started out as an archaeologist. Then, she became a city lawyer. Now, of course, Gabrielle is creating gorgeous lingerie. Of course, in the midst of being a designer, one might say she is something of a clothing psychologist as well. She became interested in designing lingerie after reading a book which discussed some of the psychological facts of clothing — such as the fact that many bras had bows because men wanted to be the ones untying them!

Whatever paths she took to get from point A to point B to point C, Gabrielle’s Beau Bra line is absolutely to die for, especially the Athena Soft Halter Neck Bra and French Knickers, pictured here.

Made with Chantilly lace and satin in a delectable French Champagne shade, this gorgeous combo features gold eyelet trimming and a beautiful shape.

Perking Up those Old Bras: 3

October 1st, 2009 by Heather

bra_artAll right, ladies, now we have reached the fun stuff. You may not believe this, but old bras, even old bra and panty sets, are the perfect fodder for some really fun handicrafts.

For instance, your old bras do not have to be used as bras. You can make a bra into a sachet. If you are really handy with your hands, a needle, and thread, you can turn an old bra into a quilt, a purse, and any number of other accessories!

Or you can do what you see pictured here and create some serious lingerie art. All you need is a lovely frame in a style of your choice. You can pin the bra and panties inside the frame, or right to the wall!

Perking Up those Old Bras: 2

September 28th, 2009 by Heather

old braIt is possible to repair some old bras. If the underwire is poking out of your favorite bra, all you need is a needle and some thread, maybe even a paperclip to help stabilize the troublesome wire.

If you have a bra that is just looking a little worn and boring, but that is not falling apart, why not jazz it up? You can add lace, appliques, sequins — anything you like, really, as long as it suits your personal aesthetic.

Now, sometimes, a bra just cannot be saved. Maybe it is too small, maybe it is too big, maybe it just does not suit your style any longer. We are going to talk about a number of things you can do about that in the next post, but sometimes, you may just want to give up the ghost and donate your unwanted lingerie to charity.
